Alice J.P. (Otto) Bastian

Alice J.P. (Otto) Bastian, 92, of New Tripoli, PA, passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2026. She was the widow of the late Preston H. Bastian, who passed away in 1993. Born in Cetronia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Bertha (Trexler) Otto, Sr.

Alice was a 1951 graduate of the former South Whitehall High School. She was an administrative assistant for the former president of Air Products in Trexlertown, PA. Alice was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Breinigsville, PA. She served as a past president of Blue Spruce Riding Club in Alburtis, PA. Alice was a former volunteer for the Cetronia Ambulance Corp for 10 years, and was a former volunteer for the Cedar Church Girl Scout troop in Cetronia, PA.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennie R. Hower, and significant other, Phil Ivins, of Lehighton, PA; granddaughter, Alicia, and her husband Joseph Becker of Upper Macungie, PA; brother-in-law, Robert Bastian of Upper Macungie, PA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy O’Connors of Wescosville, PA, and Nancy Otto of Upper Macungie, PA. Alice was predeceased by her siblings, Beatrice Gross and Herman Otto, Jr.

Alice’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 8227 Hamilton Blvd. Breinigsville, PA 18031. The calling hour will begin at 10 AM followed by her service at 11 AM. Vicar Jeremiah T. Heydt will officiate. Private interment in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
